Pizza Lady Attacks Squirrels

Jaycee at daycare always writes notes about Callia's day. Today we got:

"After all that talk about pizza, she ate more of the salad! We went on a buggy ride. We found a worm and threw acorns at the squirrels! :)"

Out of nowhere, the daycare girls started calling Callia "Pizza Lady". I'd show up to take her home and they'd call out, "See ya, Pizza Girl! Eat a slice for me!" (I didn't know what they were talking about, but I've been trying to stop asking women questions that start with the word "why".. I think it's just for the best.) Turns out, Callia had been talking about pizza lately.

This is also the first I heard about throwing things at squirrels. Although I don't generally condone violence (and rarely ever call for genocide), I do believe all squirrels should be destroyed.

First, they're just rats with cute tails. That's reason enough. On top of that, they love to gnaw their way into your attic just to scurry around and drive you nuts. Add to that the fact that they're the single most pervasive network of evil spies on the planet.. and any and all squirrel poaching you may do should be considered fair and reasonable no matter how much the disease-riddled rodents may suffer.

I'm glad hear Callia is on the right track with this squirrel thing. Acorns are pretty light-weight if you ask me.. but in her defense, she hasn't had the proper firearm training she needs to be packing heat yet.

My mom first clued me in on the squirrels. When we were kids, she told us that we should behave because her "little squirrels" out there would report back to her with everything we did. Thing is, mom always did hear about the stuff we'd do. "A little squirrel told me.." she'd say.

Damn the squirrels! I vowed years ago to dismantle their network and grill up each and every last one of them. I've made some progress.. but there's just so many of them at Vanderbilt.. and they tend to frown upon gunplay on campus.

fake-out turns

Note from daycare:

"We played chase outside; she thinks she can fool me by using football fake out turns and she's getting pretty good."

dancing and laughing and screaming

Note from daycare:
"We went out to the courtyard before it rained. Callia was so excited because Toddler 3 was out too. She kept dancing and laughing and screaming! It was so cute. :)"

Mommys Little Girl

Well, I realize that it has been forever since I have written about my little one. I think that it just now hit me that she's freakin' 16 months old now. People tell you that time flies, but hey.....they told me that I wouldn't finish my sentences anymore either.........and did I believe them?? Nooooo. So, may all of you friends forgive me for keeping all of our favorite girls' funny, sad, and happy times to myself. I vow to write more often from now on. Because, I have to say I think that I have finally accepted that things aren't going to slow down from here on out. :)

I was telling my brother the other day that I really hesitate to talk so much about Callia to other people because I don't want to be "that parent"......you know the one that thinks that their child is perfect (and, isn't she????). But, he assured me that it is okay to brag to friends and family. So, she's the best. She is obviously my world. She never ceases to make me laugh. She is a little mocking bird now. She repeats everything (or the last word of everything) that she hears. She kept going over to the dog's water and splashing around in it (which we're trying to break her of for our poor dog's sake). I had asked her to stop several times while I was folding some laundry. After the 3rd time, I said "are you just trying to get a rise out of me"..........her reply......."yep".

I am always trying to hold back the laughs these days while we are desperately trying to teach her right from wrong. I am learning about classical conditioning now in Psychology class, so I am testing it out. So far, so good. Except, we don't ring bells, and Callia doesn't drool when we hold up raw meat.

She laughs all of the time, and she actually laughs on cue when Chad tells a joke. She has all of her teeth except for her K-9's. We have started potty-training her. She sits on her potty, but she doesn't like to take her pull-ups off. :) She'd rather just hang out, I guess. But, we're just letting her take her time. She weighs 27 lbs now. She is in the 97th percentile for height, and the 95th percentile for weight. Her favorite word is shoe. She is obsessed with shoes already. That isn't a joke. She is just beautiful, and sweet. She says "ov you" now. She gives kisses to the babies at daycare and gets them toys when they feel left out. She can brush her own teeth now. And, she's ready for a hair cut, but Chad and I are wanting it to grow long so we may wait to get it trimmed for a little while longer.

She loves animals!! We went to the zoo today, and she had a blast. She kept waving and saying hi......which leads me to my next bit. She loves Wal-Mart and Sam's Club.......because she likes to say hi to everyone (so, the bigger the crowd, the better). And it can get a little bit embarrassing because if people don't notice her, she will keep waving and saying hi until they stop and tell her hi.

Other obsessions include the swing, and her blanket. She is still very much a daddy's girl. But, she demands me from time to time. :) She loves to feed the ducks. Sometimes between classes, I will go grab her up from daycare and take her to the park to feed the ducks. She chases them around and says quack quack and then runs away when they try to get the bread from her little fingers. She dances now, too.....which is extremely amusing to watch. She'll just break out with this bouncing, swaying/break dance from time to time. I am so proud!! When I was pregnant with her, I almost felt that she would be a little bit passive......heh!!! What a joke!!

But, y'all............she is my snuggle. I had no idea how much fun this can be, or how hard it can be some days!! She really does keep me going, and keeps me wanting more for our future.

Words she says often are shoe, snuggle, hi, bye-bye, mommy, daddy, milk, book, read, yep, no, bow wow, cow, moo, duck, quack quack, ok.....all animals and noises, please, thank you, night night, morning, diaper, blanket, get down, bless you (which she also says when you cough), all done, twinkle twinkle, e-i-e-i-o. And, the last word or couple of words that you say.

My favorite thing that she copies that Chad says is "go go" when we're riding in the car.

She recognizes her family now, and gets really excited when we talk about them. She carries around a picture of her grandma perry and the horse that they go visit when she stays with Perry and David. Oh, she is also obsessed with their peacocks.

There is so much to catch up on, but I would say that is a pretty big summary. And, I will be better about updating from now on, Perry. :) We love you all. Thanks for loving us too, and putting up with my flakiness since my favorite little girl arrived.
